Doreen Wellsbury (or Wellsberry or Wells - maiden name)

Took over from Daphne Carr as Ben Marks secretary in 1953 and left to go to South Africa in 1956. She returned to the UK a couple of years later only to move to Australia very soon afterwards.

It is rumoured that she came back to England briefly for the premiere of the stage play of 84 Charing Cross Road. However it is known that she attended, possibly by invitation, the opening night of the play at the, now defunct, Marian Street Theatre in Sydney, Australia on 2nd April 1983. The actress Elaine Lee, who played the part of Megan Wells in the Australian production, remembers Doreen being introduced to the cast.

There is also some doubt as to Doreen's actual surname, it could be either Wellsbury, Wellsberry or even Wells.
